U.S. Preparations:

- Little weight gain
- In addition to SDA pharmacology, unique binding properties include
5HT1A agonist, 5HT1D
antagonist, 5HT2C antagonist, and serotonin and norepinephrine
reuptake blockade.
- Unique pharmacologic profile suggests potential advantages for associated anxiety and depression.
- Early study reporting use in children ages 7-17 with Gilles de la Tourette
syndrome in which it is well tolerated and effective
- Approved in Sweden, pending approval in the USA, and currently not marketed anywhere.
- Somnolence and dizziness are the most frequent side effects.
- Prolongs the mean QT interval slightly, with greater prolongations in some individuals.
- Significance of QT prolongations currently under investigation and will be resolved
before approval in the USA.
